Bed Stuy Fish Fry - Bay Plaza is seeking a friendly and customer-oriented individual to join our team in the steam table line. As a member of the team, you will be responsible for working on the steam table line, serving our delicious soul food dishes, and providing exceptional customer service. You will also handle cashier duties, ensuring accurate transactions and maintaining a positive experience for our valued customers. Responsibilities:
- Work on the steam table line, ensuring food is properly prepared, presented, and served.
- Interact with customers in a friendly and welcoming manner, taking their orders and answering any questions about the menu.
- Operate the cash register, handle cash and credit card transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization at the counter & steam table area.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety standards, including proper food handling and storage procedures.
- Monitor and restock inventory items as needed, such as food, take-out bags & containers.
- Collaborate with the kitchen staff and communicate customer preferences or special requests effectively.
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing and resolving any customer concerns or complaints promptly.
- Maintain a positive attitude, work well in a team environment, and support fellow team members as needed.
Requirements:
- Must speak English!
- Must have SS# or ITIN#
- Previous experience in a counter or customer service role is preferred, but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic math skills for accurate cash handling and register operations.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- A positive attitude and a passion for delivering excellent customer service.
