Welcome to Island. We are looking for a Host to join our team. We are a neighborhood American restaurant on Madison Avenue and 92nd St serving a loyal and local clientele for 38 years. Our restaurant has never been busier and we are looking for a responsible and experienced Host to join our team.
Our ideal candidate has 1-2 years experience hosting at a full service restaurant, experience with Opentable is a must, is responsible and dependable, comfortable speaking with guests and multitasking when the restaurant is busy, can resolve customer disputes.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Greet Customers and check in on Opentable tablet
Take pickup orders over the phone (tips are yours)
Coat Check (tips are yours)
Map out seating for the evening on Opentable tablet - communicate with team to ensure tables are set accordingly
Print Specials
Help bus tables, run credit cards, set tables, fill water as needed

Shifts are from 11am-4pm during weekday lunch, 10:30am - 4pm Brunch, and 4pm - 9:30pm Dinner daily. The shifts we are looking to fill right now are Sunday and Monday dinner. There are coverage opportunities if your flexible and possible more shifts in the future as we enter a busier season. We're looking for someone who can grow with us - NOT just short term employment.
FYI $25/hour includes estimated tips (a lower tip estimate than expected) - depending on experience, the position pays $20/hour.
