Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Back of House Kitchen Helper to join our culinary team. As a Kitchen Helper, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a clean and efficient kitchen environment while assisting the culinary team with various tasks. This is an entry-level position that provides an excellent opportunity to learn about the inner workings of a professional kitchen.
Responsibilities:
Cleaning and Sanitation:
Wash dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, and pans.
Clean and sanitize food preparation areas, counters, and equipment.
Sweep and mop kitchen floors.
Remove trash and recycling.
Food Preparation:
Assist with basic food preparation tasks like washing, peeling, chopping vegetables, and portioning ingredients.
Stock and rotate inventory.
Other Duties:
Unload and store deliveries.
Assist with plating and garnishing dishes as needed.
Perform any other tasks as assigned by the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Prior experience in a restaurant or food service environment is a plus but not required.
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain composure under pressure.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication skills.
Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in a hot and sometimes noisy kitchen environment.
