Sous Chef ( Bedford-Stuyvesant)

compensation: 50-65k Plus Bonus Incentives

We are looking for a head chef to open and operate a brand new kitchen at a Full Service Restaurant including Brunch and Dinner. Applicants should be prepared to work closely with ownership and management to create menus; and subsequently organize, stock, staff, and train as needed.

This is a full-time WORKING CHEF leadership position and a great opportunity to be creative and grow with the company. This position offers a significant performance-based bonus upon hitting excellent food cost goals. Must keep a DOH ready clean kitchen DAILY. Spanish Speaking is a plus.

Job Type:

● Full-time Pay: TBD - Average $75,000.00 per year

Benefits:

● Performance-based annual bonus or paid vacations, insurance

Schedule:

● 50-55hrs a week

● 5+ days a week

● Open availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Duties & Responsibilities

● Create and execute elevated menus for: grab and go, café style made to order breakfast and lunch, wine bar style small bites and shared plates.

● Organize the kitchen space and processes for expedient service in accordance with DoH guidelines.

● Source vendors for high-quality ingredients.

● Order and receive ingredients.

● Organize proper storage of ingredients in accordance with DoH guidelines.

● Accurately manage inventory to maximize cost-effectivness, while minimizing waste.

● Hire, train, and manage kitchen staff as needed.

● Create and manage kitchen staff schedules.

● Maintain presentation, quality, and timeliness standards for all dishes leaving the kitchen for service.

● Maintain general cleanliness and compliance with health and fire department regulations.

● Complete the duties of all kitchen positions when needed.

● Effectively communicate and coordinate with upper management and front of house staff.

Skills & Qualifications

● 3+ years of NYC restaurant experience as Chef or Sous Chef.

-Experienced Head Chef is greatly appreciated.

● Café and/or wine bar experience is a plus.

● Ability to safely operate all kitchen equipment (including stoves, refrigeration, slicer, knives, dishwashing machine. etc.)

● Leadership skills.

● Planning and multi-tasking.

● Interpersonal skills.

● Conflict resolution.

● Working with budgets.

● Attention to detail.

● Financial understanding.

● Self-motivated with a high energy level.

● Physical stamina to withstand a full shift on their feet.

● Ability to lift up to 30 pounds as needed.

● Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
