We are looking for an ambitious, passionate, team oriented, and experienced Pastry Chef to lead our team.
To be considered, candidates must possess a minimum of two years of experience in a pastry kitchen with extensive knowledge of chocolate confection and pastry production, strong leadership skills, a genuine passion for quality, deep understanding of costing, systems, and people, and the ability to execute in a high-volume environment.
Responsibilities Include:
Leading pastry/chocolate production team daily in retail, wholesale and catering venues
Uphold standards of current products to ensure the highest quality possible
Developing, implementing and maintaining new recipes, and products
Bring further efficiencies to current inventory ordering systems, food costs, labor costs
Identify, communicate, execute policies and procedures to improve operational systems
Coach, mentor, train kitchen staff
Bi-annual employee reviews
Hiring and firing of kitchen staff
Ordering of kitchen product
Requirements:
2 years of experience in a chocolate/pastry kitchen managing a team of 3 or more
Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment effectively without losing focus on priorities and while maintaining a high level of quality
Maintain complete knowledge of and compliance with all company policies, service procedures and standards - including Health Department regulations;
Maintain high standard of kitchen sanitation systems, and conditions and an A letter grade from the NYC Department of Health
NYC Food Protection Certificate
Strong knowledge of kitchen equipment
Proficient computer skills in Word and Excel
Ability to communicate effectively with associates, management, clients and vendors when necessary
Ability to work flexible schedule to accommodate business demands
