BKLYN Larder is a specialty retail and sandwich shop in the heart of Park Slope. We have been providing locals with prepared food, salads and sandwiches since 2009. We are a small friendly team that works well together and we look forward to adding a new member to the crew! The pastry team produces everything from breakfast pastries to cookies, desserts, pies and the finest gelato/sorbetto that this great borough has to offer!
We're looking for a friendly person who enjoys working with high quality ingredients and seasonal elements. You will be working with our Pastry Chef to execute the many different products.
Some experience preferred, but will train the right candidate.
Flexible scheduling, weekend availability a plus. Holiday availability necessary. Our kitchen is friendly, inclusive and encouraging.
Candidates without Gelato experience:

In addition, candidates with Gelato Experience: the Gelato Maker will be responsible for producing high-quality gelato and sorbets in accordance with our recipes and standards. This role involves overseeing the production process, ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. The ideal candidate will have a love for gelato, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to delivering an exceptional product.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gelato Production: Prepare and mix gelato bases, flavors, and ingredients and spin gelato according to established recipes and quality standards.
- Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain gelato machine and other equipment used in the production process.
- Quality Control: Monitor the consistency, texture, and flavor of the gelato, making adjustments as needed to ensure the final product meets our high standards. Monitor inventory and pars to keep our freezer stock with year round and seasonal flavors
- Sanitation: Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
- Recipe Development: Collaborate with the team to develop new and innovative flavors, incorporating seasonal ingredients and customer feedback.
- Customer Service: Occasionally interact with customers to gather feedback and ensure satisfaction with our gelato offerings.
- Experience: Previous experience in a food production environment, particularly with gelato or ice cream.
- Passion: A genuine enthusiasm for gelato and a desire to create high-quality products that delight customers.
