Petee's Pie Company, home of "NYC's Absolute Best Pie" according to New York Magazine, is in search of energetic, enthusiastic bakers to work at our flagship LES location. Must have professional experience preparing food in a bakery, restaurant, or café. Past experience as a pastry chef/pastry cook, baker, line cook, etc are all considered relevant.
Our business is based on a simple concept: make the best pie money can buy using real ingredients. We make our pies using seasonal local produce and natural fair-trade sweeteners. Our crust is made with organic flour and grass-fed butter from New York State. We make them all from scratch on-site and bake them fresh throughout the day.
This is a full-time position starting at $21/hour with the possibility of overtime.
-ability to carry 50 lb up stairs
-food handler's certificate (or ability to obtain one quickly)
-ability to work efficiently under pressure and to work either early mornings or late nights without losing steam.
-availability on weekends AND on/around holidays
-ability to work flexibly as part of a team in a fast-paced workplace
-ability to handle feedback constructively
Responsibilities include:
-preparing doughs, pie fillings, ice cream.
-assembling and baking pies for daily bake, and at very high volume during the holidays.
-operating dough sheeter, mixers, large rotating ovens, and ice cream machine.
-clear and proactive communication with coworkers and management.
-cleaning tasks such as dishwashing, organizing, cleaning equipment, and mopping, according to DOH standards.
Hours:
-Five day work week (either A: 7am-3pm Wednesday through Sunday, with Monday and Tuesday off, or B: 7am-3pm Friday through Tuesday, with Wednesday and Thursday off)
-This is a full time position with potential for overtime.
