Pixie Scout is seeking a passionate and experienced Operations Captain to work at our Commissary in Brooklyn. Operations Captain is a full-time position responsible for assembling and expediting all orders requisitioned from the Commissary, including but not limited to: drop off and pickup catering orders placed online, food and beverage orders for Event Services, prepared product for Workplace Food Services. This position reports directly to the Commissary Operations Lead and works closely with Commissary Culinary Lead as well as the Commissary culinary and F.I.R. team(s).
A qualified Operations Captain is a skilled expediter and effective communicator, confidently knowledgeable in food safety practices. They are able to manage their time and workflow such that they can execute the expo station of a busy commissary and fulfill duties specific to the operations role while in regular communication with Commissary leadership and team members.
Duties include:
Online catering order fulfillment and delivery dispatch
Assembling and packing catering orders to the specifications of invoice receipt
Sending customer service notifications
Readying final orders for delivery dispatch
Coordinating dispatch with delivery team and supporting tight adherence to daily delivery schedule
Occasional delivery driving when delivery team requires additional support
Working with Commissary team to respond to emergent customer service questions and issues
Assembling and expediting Event Services food and beverage orders by appropriate deadlines including completion of all accompanying documentation SOP’s
Assembling and expediting Workplace Food Services orders, including completion of all accompanying documentation SOP’s
Supporting timely dispatch of all Event and Workplace Food Services orders
Working with Commissary leadership to create and update daily prep lists
Working with Commissary leadership to keep all spaces compliant with DOHMH codes and requirements
Responding to emergent issues affecting operations such as equipment failures, building maintenance or repairs, questions about food product or menu items
Responsible for the movement of food products, culinary tools, and equipment through culinary and storage spaces to ensure they are well-stocked, organized, DOHMH compliant, and ready for use. Including, but not limited to:
Receiving all vendor deliveries and managing their movement to the appropriate storage
Managing daily / weekly supply inventories and supporting Commissary leadership with appropriate procurement
Supporting F.I.R. and Culinary teams in adherence to daily and weekly walk-in SOP

Job requirements:
Non-expired U.S. license to drive
3+ years of professional hospitality, food and/or beverage experience
Full-Time availability
Understanding of and adherence to NYC DOHMH standards and policies; NYC Food Protection Certificate required
Able to stand for at least 8 hours and complete tasks that may require lifting up to 50 lbs.
Computer Skills: Google Workspace applications including Docs and Sheets, mobile applications including Slack and Homebase
English Language Proficiency: written and verbal fluency required
Basic proficiency in Spanish language is preferred, not required

Full-Time position (8-hour shifts no earlier than 7 AM and no later than 6 PM, 40 hours per week; Weekend Availability required
Starting pay: $26.44 per hour
Accrued Safe + Sick Leave (PSL), 1 hour for every 30 hours worked
