Russ & Daughters is looking for a fantastic Bakery Manager to join our team at our Brooklyn Navy Yard location.
The position requires an individual with prior bakery operations experience who will be responsible for overseeing all facets of baking production and management across all shifts (AM, PM, Overnight). This is a great opportunity for strong bakery lead to take their next step into management.
The Bakery Manager will work closely with the General Manager to ensure the production of the highest quality offerings from bagels and bialys to babkas, rugelach, black & whites, rye & pumpernickel bread, challah, macaroons, and honey cake.
This position will require strong leadership skills, effective communication, and the ability to thrive in a high-paced environment. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Overseeing baking production and ensuring top-quality products across all shifts.
Managing the hiring, training, and scheduling of bakery staff.
Ensuring adherence to health code standards and equipment safety measures.
Collaborating with the GM and Retail team for product freshness and inventory management.
Ordering bakery supplies and vetting new vendors for best prices and products.
Generating wholesale invoices.
Communicating effectively with the GM, other managers, and the broader R&D family.
Utilizing sales and inventory management technology proficiently.
Managing increased volume and pressure during busy holiday periods.
Creating and overseeing staff schedules in collaboration with the GM.
Handling staff discipline in accordance with company policy.
This position is 5 days per week (daytime), requires weekend and holiday availability, potentially longer during holidays.
Bilingual ability (English – Spanish) preferred.
