Russ & Daughters 34th Street seeks a full-time Customer Service/ Phones Attendant!
Russ & Daughters, a New York City cultural and culinary icon, has opened our first location on the West Side of Manhattan, on the corner of 34th Street and 10th Avenue (Hudson Yards). The new 4,500-sq ft. retail shop at 502 West 34th Street, in the base of 50 Hudson Yards, joins the original Russ & Daughters Shop on Houston Street, our Cafe on Orchard Street, and our bakery and retail counter in Brooklyn.
The Customer Service/Phones Attendant:
Demonstrates genuine Russ & Daughters hospitality; delivering consistently exceptional, “haimish” and professional customer service.
Demonstrates and communicates full product knowledge: smoked fish, caviar, candy, baked goods, canned goods, cheeses, salads and all other foods available for sale.
Is able to educate our customers about taste, preparation, portions, ingredients, pricing, how long products will stay fresh, ideas about how to serve, and any additional background information.
Takes phone orders and accurately enter them into our point of sale.
Directs incoming phone calls; getting callers to the right person/answer they’re looking for.
Assists with email correspondence and internal/external communications.
Trouble shoots orders placed on our online portals.
Works with retail staff to handle customer issues.
Assists with retail service as needed.
Performs any additional assigned related duties.
We are looking for a focused and attentive person who can work with speed but also with attention to detail and presentation. Candidates should have experience in gourmet food, retail experience, salesmanship, strong communication skills, and a can-do spirit. This position works 5 days per week – Sunday through Thursday from 7:30am to 4pm, requires weekend and holiday availability, potentially longer days and weeks during the holidays.
