At Björk Cafe & Bistro, we're looking for a versatile team player who can excel in a hybrid role as a Server, Busser, and Event Server. This position requires open availability, must be available weekends, with no late-night shifts. You'll be an active, contributing member of our team, responsible for creating memorable guest experiences while demonstrating a high level of excellence in food & beverage knowledge and all technical aspects of the job.

Björk Cafe & Bistro's Policies and Guidelines

Arrive on time and "floor-ready" for all scheduled shifts, adhering to dress code guidelines and standards.

Clock in and out for each scheduled shift and shift break, ensuring accurate use of time and attendance procedures.

Service & Guest Experience

Maintain a strong understanding of proper service steps and execute them efficiently, with a sense of urgency and grace.

Anticipate guest needs and foster strong relationships, demonstrating exceptional guest recognition skills.

Ensure clear communication with staff, management, and the kitchen at all times during service.

Address any guest needs or concerns promptly, keeping management informed.

Use the POS system with speed and accuracy during service.

Engage in salesmanship when interacting with guests to enhance their experience.

Coordinate with the busser/runner team to fulfill all service steps, focusing on guest needs.

Support co-workers during service while effectively managing your section.

Busser & Station Maintenance

Quickly clear and reset tables, ensuring a clean and organized dining area.

Assist in restocking and maintaining cleanliness throughout the restaurant, including before, during, and after service.

Actively participate in maintaining the high standards of cleanliness and appearance in all areas of the restaurant.

Demonstrate knowledge of Department of Health (DOH) standards.

Complete all assigned side work as directed by management.

Event Service

Assist in setting up and breaking down event spaces, ensuring all areas are prepared according to event specifications.

Provide attentive and personalized service during events, adapting to the specific needs of each event.

Collaborate with the event coordinator and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service flow during events.

Ensure all event service duties are completed efficiently, including food and beverage service, table clearing, and guest assistance.

Menu Knowledge & Education

Demonstrate thorough knowledge of all menu items, including daily specials, and be able to describe dishes, ingredients, preparation techniques, purveyors, and allergens.

Maintain strong beverage knowledge and navigate the drink list confidently.

Actively participate in line-up and assist in educating staff members.

Essential Functions

Able to lift 30+ lbs.

Fluent in both written and spoken English.

Polished personal presentation that meets Company standards.

Ability to walk, stand, and/or bend continuously and for extended periods as required.

Ability to perform essential job functions under stress in a fast-paced environment.

Work Experience Requirements

1+ years' experience as a server, busser, or in a related role.

Education Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred.

TIPS Certification preferred
