Soupside NYC is a seasonal soup shop opening in SoHo, taking over Softside, a busy soft serve spot known for its fast pace and strong neighborhood following. We’re looking for a skilled, reliable Soup Chef to lead daily soup production and help define the flavor and consistency of the menu throughout the season. This role has the potential to grow into a larger culinary position with Softside and Upside Pizza.
This is a hands-on, production-focused role ideal for someone who loves cooking, understands volume, and takes pride in simple food done really well.
Responsibilities
-Prepare soups from start to finish including prep, cooking, seasoning, and finishing
-Execute recipes consistently while maintaining quality and flavor at volume
-Oversee daily soup production to meet service needs
-Maintain cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards in the kitchen
-Manage prep lists, labeling, dating, and proper storage
-Work closely with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth service
-Assist with opening and closing kitchen procedures
-Support ordering, inventory, and minimizing waste
Requirements
-Previous experience as a line cook, prep cook, or soup-focused role preferred
-Strong understanding of stocks, soups, and batch cooking
-Ability to cook consistently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
-Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen best practices
-Organized, dependable, and detail-oriented
-Ability to stand for long periods and lift kitchen equipment as needed
-Flexible availability including weekends and holidays during the season
