Sushi Prep Assistant – No Experience Needed (Will Train)

About Us:
We are a family-owned Japanese restaurant that has been serving traditional sushi and Japanese dishes since 1985. Our team is small, dedicated, and steady — many employees and customers have been with us for years. We are currently seeking a Sushi Prep Assistant to support our head sushi chef. This is an immediate opening due to staffing changes, and we are looking for someone reliable, motivated, and willing to learn.
What You’ll Do:
-Assist the sushi chef with daily prep
-Prep vegetables and ingredients (avocado, cucumbers, scallions, etc.)
-Portion and organize ingredients for service
-Make and season sushi rice (we will train you)
-Restock the sushi station during service
-Learn to cut fish
-Box to-go orders
-Keep the work area clean and sanitized
-Help with basic roll assembly if trained (simple maki)
We’re Looking For:
-Someone reliable, fast, and good with their hands
-Ability to follow instructions and learn quickly
-Positive attitude and good teamwork
-Knife experience is a plus but not required
-Can handle repetitive tasks and stay focused
-Has restaurant or kitchen experience (preferred, but NOT required)
Hours:
-Flexible shifts (part-time or full-time)
-Ideal for anyone wanting stable full-time work
-Weekend availability preferred
