The Up & Up is looking for a new Bar Team Member.
The Up & Up is an upscale hospitality-driven, seated-only cocktail bar that prides itself on first-rate service as well as first-rate cocktails. Located in the heart of Greenwich Village, it’s currently in its tenth year of operation.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in one of the most popular cocktail bars in the city, and join a team of hospitality professionals who are passionate about their work. You will be able to gain a new, cocktail-focused skillset, or to hone skills you already have while also learning every aspect about how a small, precision cocktail bar successfully functions.
Ours is a small, friendly team, and we take very good care of each other. This is a challenging position, and not for people looking for an easy gig. But for the right people, it is a very rewarding job.
All tipped shifts are all paid the tipped minimum wage, plus a full (equal) share in the tip pool. This includes Barback, Bartender, and Floor server.
We are currently looking for someone to fill FOUR shifts weekly with availability on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. The shifts will consist of three barback shifts and one floor server shift. At the Up & Up we almost exclusively promote from within, so there is a definite possibility for advancement down the road if the fit is right.
Shifts start between 2:00-3:00pm and can range from 9-12 hours in length depending on the day.
The ideal candidate will:
-Have hospitality experience, preferably in a cocktail bar or high-volume restaurant.
-Have a drive for precision workmanship and possess a strong work ethic.
-Have an innate understanding of hospitality and a desire to give good service.
-Want to be part of a team effort.
The barback shifts can be physically demanding and often require the shifting and stocking of heavy cases of liquor, as well as carrying heavy items while navigating stairs.
