Medical Director – Veterinary Services

Salary: $150,000 - $200,000 per year
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Medical Director to lead our Emergency and Specialty Veterinary teams at our Brook Park, OH, and Norwalk, CT hospitals. This leadership role will partner with the Hospital Director (HD) to drive operational excellence, foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement, and ensure high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Foster a positive, engaged, and continuously improving hospital culture.
Serve alongside the Hospital Director to provide strategic and operational leadership.
Lead doctor recruitment, onboarding, development, and performance management in collaboration with internal teams.
Oversee department workflows to ensure safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care.
Manage doctor scheduling, department meetings, and communications.
Partner with the HD to provide the Clinical Services team with the necessary tools and resources.
Work with the HD to monitor hospital financial performance, including expense management and inventory control.
Collaborate with hospital leadership and regional partners on budget preparation and operational planning.
Lead referral partner outreach and Continuing Education (CE) activities to strengthen relationships and grow the practice.
Address patient care issues, referral partner concerns, and client complaints, including handling escalations.
Maintain regulatory compliance and interact with regulatory boards as needed.
Qualifications:
5-7+ years of progressive veterinary leadership experience, ideally in an Emergency and Specialty setting.
Proven leadership during times of change and growth.
Strong conflict management and resolution skills, especially in emotionally charged situations.
Backgrounds such as Board-Certified Veterinary Specialists, experienced ER veterinarians, veterinarians with military leadership, or comparable animal health leadership are highly desirable.
