Our Hartsdale based optometry office is searching for a full time skilled optician/optical dispenser to join our retail sales team. The ideal person must be able to work with patients in our established family practice by delivering personalized, quality optical care and outstanding customer service. You must be able to assist patients with eyeglass fittings, optical dispensing and additional testing. You must also possess strong sales skills by demonstrating a high level of knowledge about our products in order to determine the patients’ eyewear needs.
Job responsibilities include:
Use prescription information from the doctor and the patient’s preferences to provide appropriate product recommendations.
Understand frame construction, lens material and lens coatings for proper recommendations.
Perform optical measurements to ensure a comfortable and proper fit.
Accurately calculate cost including insurance benefits and discounts and review with patient.
Additionally, optician must be skilled at adjusting frames using optical tools to achieve an optimal fit on each patient when comfort or poor vision is an issue. Optician may also instruct patient on how to use contact lenses by showing them how to insert and remove them and how to properly care for them.
Optician will maintain a clean and visually appealing display and complete additional tasks such as preparing paperwork for patient insurance, order inventory and track orders in the system.
Qualifications:
High school graduate or equivalent
Minimum two years optical experience
Attention to detail, excellent customer service and communication skills required. Proficiency with computers and medical office scheduling software is a plus.
We are located in Hartsdale NY, a family-oriented community very close to public transportation and Metro North Railway and provide employee parking.
We offer a competitive compensation package that includes paid holidays and paid time off. Hours are Monday through Friday with no weekend hours required.
