SUMMARY:
As part of the Operations Department, the Building Maintenance Team will be responsible for various tasks. Some of these include, but are not limited to maintaining building systems in accordance with Temple Israel’s policies and procedures and conducting minor repairs as required.
Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedures and
clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets
and trash receptacles; replace light bulbs; refill restroom dispensers.
Assist with the setup and breakdown of Temple events, meetings, classrooms, conferences, etc.
Strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors, vacuum
and shampoo carpets.
Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools; buffers, auto scrubbers,
extractors, high pressure washers, high speed buffers and vacuums, brooms, mops, and
squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc.
Wash walls and equipment; use ladders when required in work assignments and check for unlocked doors and windows.
Report any unauthorized occupants, turn off lights and HVAC equipment when not in use.
Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies. Use as directed.
Perform cleaning and related activities such as removing snow or debris from sidewalks
using hand shovels and exterior squeegees. Use salt spreaders to distribute calcium chloride.
Move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools on an incidental basis.
Wash accessible interior and exterior windows. Clean blinds.
Review event schedules on a daily basis and carry out respective assignments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be customer service oriented, capable of following directions and able to work with limited supervision. Should be able to manage multiple tasks, have good time management skills, capable of lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. and able to stand for extended periods of time. Previous housekeeping, facilities and maintenance experience preferred.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or equivalent.
