Job Description – Houseman
Comfort Inn and Suites, Bronx, NY is currently seeking persons with strong maintenance/houseman capabilities in the southwest Bronx region. Comfort Inn and Suites is a proud brand that boasts free breakfast in the mornings, fitness center and business center access 24/7 and a fully staffed front desk, 24 hours a day. We are currently looking for new members to join our maintenance/houseman staff that are bi-lingual (Spanish and English) and have at least one year of experience working in an environment with similar responsibilities as those listed below.
Job Responsibilities:
Houseman:
Perform routine, repetitive daily inspection and maintenance necessary to building exterior/interior;
Assists and performs semiskilled tasks of a general nature in connection with maintenance, repair and construction tasks in the upkeep of the hotel property;
Assists and performs with installation, maintenance, repair and construction work in the basic building maintenance trades, such as carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, locksmith, carpet, and mechanics;
Assists and performs functions in the construction, installation and maintenance of furniture, doors, fences, cabinets, shelving, and lighting;
Assists and performs basic maintenance and installation with televisions, telephones, alarm clocks, radios, refrigerators, microwaves, coffee machines, etc.
Houseman:
Assist with truck deliveries.
Clean parking lot / common areas and help Housekeeping with lifting linen/trash bags
Clean Lobby / Hallway.
Assist hotel staff in guest related services
Perform basic maintenance checklist items throughout building
Requirements:
Proven experience as maintenance technician (1 year);
Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, carpentry and other systems;
Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods;
Working knowledge of tools, common appliances and devices;
Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills;
Good physical condition and strength with a willingness to work overtime;
High school diploma or equivalent; Certificate in HVAC, building maintenance technology or relevant field will be a plus;

Additional Requirements:
Employee must be able to work without close supervision. Supervisory personnel will be required to handle employees in a manner that assists them in their ability to function effectively. Employee may be asked to perform other duties or tasks not identified in this list, but which are within the competence of someone with the above skills.
