We are interviewing for a mover position in Northern Westchester county, you should live in Northern Westchester or be close by
The work is on an as needed basis generally between the hours of 9-6, and Mondays are always off. Currently about 10-15 hours a week for part time but expecting to increase rapidly with more jobs coming in every week. Looking for both a main employee that will be on most jobs, as well as people to call on when we need extra help.
You do not need to have experience in the moving industry, we will train. What you do need to have are the following characteristics:
#1 trait is Trustworthiness- You must have a high level of integrity in the job. This is the first thing we look for when hiring and the first thing we look at when firing. If there is any question of your trustworthiness before or during the job, including to fellow employees, clients, or supervisors, you will be let go.
Strong work ethic- This is a physically demanding job and you should enjoy working hard, lifting heavy, and solving sometimes challenging issues, like how to fit a couch in a small doorframe.
Teachable- Willing to learn, change and adapt. A person who listens to instructions well and does not let their ego make them think they are superior to everyone else. If you have 20 years in the moving industry, and know everything there is to know, but you do not have the humility to admit when you’re wrong, this job isn’t for you.
Respectful and reliable- Respect is a big thing for us, we try our best to respect our employees, our clients, and their possessions, even the public, and we ask our employees to display that respect at all times. We also need you to be on time and there when you say you will be there. No shows are almost always instant fire.
Beyond those important character traits of course you’ll need to have the physical abilities to do the work. It can be very physically demanding, but if you’re a gym goer, it’s like getting paid to work out!
-Must be able to lift 100 lbs or more
-Must have good spatial awareness and bodily awareness to keep damage to a minimum in tight spots
-Must be careful and patient at times
-Must be a team player
-A car and being able to drive is a plus but not required
-Being a quick thinker is a plus
We are also always on the lookout for someone who can grow into a leadership role, and eventually be able to run jobs and lead a team.

Pay is $18/hour plus tips. Tips will add a good portion to your base pay, and aren’t insignificant in the moving industry. Employees can often walk away with a $40 tip for a 2 hour job.
