Warehouse Floor Person (Nighttime)

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION:

 Each night and as part of the warehouse operation team, the Floor Person provides operational support to the Foreman/Assistant Foreman. The Floor Person receives periodicals/products, breaks-up and distributes them to ICs’ make-order areas; provides route coverage, as necessary, and keeps the workplace clean.

This is a PART-TIME position - 4 days a week, 6 hours per day (24 hours total)

REQUIRED:

[x] Valid driver’s license; registration; & vehicle insurance

[x] Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds.

EQUIPMENT TRAINING & USE

[x] Power jack training & use

[x] Forklift training & use

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

 Must be able to take direction well and to work effectively and efficiently. Should be detail-oriented;

 Must be capable of safely driving a 24-foot box truck and a Sprinter-sized van (experience preferred); and

 Must be able to communicate effectively (orally and in writing). Fluency in English; plus, Spanish or additional languages, preferred.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

 Unloads/loads delivery trucks using powered equipment (forklift, pallet jacks, etc.) or manually, as required;

 Inventories publications/products as they are received;

 Helps independent contractors (ICs) tie-up their routes to optimize dispatch times;

 As directed by the Foreman/Assistant Foreman and using either employee’s personal vehicle or a company vehicle, delivers publications/products intra-company, to other warehouses;

 Prior to driving, reviews and inspects company vehicles to be sure they are capable of safe travel; completes and submits to Foreman Vehicle Pre-trip Inspection Form;

 In coordination with Foreman, may be retained by IC(s) to provide substitute route coverage;

 Participates in recurring safety training (forklift and or pallet jacks) and operates all company equipment in a safe manner throughout each shift;

 Inspect company equipment and timely report any safety concerns to the Foreman;

 Sweeps/sanitizes warehouse at the end of each shift;

 Performs other duties as requested by Foreman, General Foreman, or Management; and

 Complies with safety and employment policies and Employee Handbook.
