Legal Advisors/Coaches,
I'm a Columbia doctorate student in education and psychology, with an MA from Harvard and a similar focus. I attended the Kennedy School of Government and taught Social Studies for 12 years, but I need actual "legal writing advice.
I was recently let go from a teaching position by a private school with an At-Will contract.
I feel strongly and have evidence to support that the administration made mistakes and shifted blame to me to save face to their parents, Board, etc. I was the "scapegoat" or "fall guy."
They offered me a two-week severance in exchange for confidentiality and not proceeding with any kind of challenge.
I am not satisfied with this offer. I feel it was a Wrongful Termination (or whatever the term is).
To feel good about this and/or sleep well at night, I want to write a letter to HR requesting a 3-month severance package.
I'm aware that I don't stand much chance of reversing the decision in a Wrongful Termination case.
Yet I also feel that if someone can help me write an effective and powerful letter to HR arguing my case for a 3-month severance, this could be a suitable middle ground to resolve this case.
Please get in touch with me by TEXT so that I will be sure to get your message.
I'd love to talk to you and get your counsel.
S
