Concern Housing is seeking an Employment Coordinator who will be responsible for providing support and assisting supportive tenants with reintegration into the workplace, including support of the veteran employees of the Cyclone Bagels café at Surf Vets Place.
Position: Employment Coordinator
Location: Brooklyn, NY (Coney Island)
Schedule: Saturday-Wednesday; 7am-3pm
Salary: $57,500-$60,000/yr.
Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
- Support of Cyclone Bagels veteran employee workforce, including coverage when a veteran employee cannot fill their
expected shift in bagel shop, as needed
- Identify additional veteran employees for Cyclone Bagels to cover any workforce shortages
- Development of supported employment program for Concern NYC programs to include assessment of tenant vocational
skills, work experience and job preferences toward development of individualized employment plans. Explore possible
expansion of agency’s contractual relationship with Access VR
- Assist tenants with relevant job development and job seeking activities and work to build suitable employment
relationships in NYC area
- In conjunction with NYC Financial Case Manager, provide benefits advisement to allow clients to make informed
choices regarding the range of benefits they receive, or those for which they may be eligible, and the impact of
employment on entitlements.
- Assist with resume building, interviewing skills, orientation to transportation, coping skills, and stress management as
related to securing and maintaining employment.
- Provide individualized, supportive services to assist tenants in sustaining employment, including on-site job
guidance/coaching. Focus on substance use relapse prevention and crisis planning for tenants in their recovery journey
around employment
- Provide education and support to employers, where agreed upon by the tenant, which may include negotiating job
accommodations and follow-up contacts with the employer.
- Utilize outreach services to foster partnerships with other community organizations as related to supported employment
opportunities.
- Complete assessment and progress note documentation in Precision Care in accordance with agency’s quality assurance
policies and procedures.
- Remain current with all Agency required compliance documents and trainings
- Other duties as assigned by supervisory staff.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree preferred in mental health or social services. Experience in the hospitality industry is preferred. At least 2 years of related experience in vocational services. Valid driver’s license preferred.
