Project-Based Internship: Lobbyist Intern Romanian Community Advocacy

We are building a lobbying and advocacy initiative to represent the Romanian community in the United States, starting in New York City. The Lobbyist Intern will support research, outreach, and strategy as we begin to establish a framework for policy influence and community representation.

This is a hands-on, project-based internship designed for students or early-career professionals who want direct experience in lobbying, government affairs, and community advocacy.

Key Responsibilities

Research federal, state, and city policy issues affecting immigrant and diaspora communities.

Monitor legislation, prepare briefs, and track relevant hearings or sessions.

Assist with stakeholder outreach, coalition-building, and event planning.

Draft memos, advocacy letters, and talking points.

Support meetings with policymakers, community leaders, and partner organizations.

Help coordinate local advocacy events and forums in New York City.

Qualifications

Required

Strong interest in lobbying, government, or policy.

Excellent research and writing skills.

Ability to work independently on a project-based schedule.

Commitment to civic engagement and community service.

Truthful and reliable person.

Location: New York City (in-person, project-based)

Preferred (Not Required)

Familiarity with the Romanian community and/or language.

Prior experience with advocacy, nonprofits, or government work.

Understanding of the Latin/Latino community in the U.S. (optional but a strong plus) for coalition-building.
