Seeking 20 Residencials Aids to start work immediately throughout NYC.
ORGANIZATION
Housing Options and Geriatric Association Resources, Inc. (H.O.G.A.R.) was incorporated in March 1996 to assist society’s most disenfranchised; the elderly, seriously mentally ill adults, the homeless, adults living with Special Needs and the physically challenged by promoting, fostering and providing the highest quality of housing and services in a most therapeutic, rehabilitative and aesthetically satisfying environment.
POSITION SUMMARY: Working in concert with the Shift Supervisor, provides general assistance and support to clients residing at the shelter and regularly monitors the safety and security of clients located throughout the facility which includes the dormitory and bathrooms.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Work with clients around ADL skills such as laundry, cleaning, and organization of room
Medication monitoring
Monitor’s clients to ensure dormitory property compliance as per DHS rules and regulations,
Regularly monitors the bathrooms to reduce the instance of clients smoking in these parts,
Strip beds when a room/bed is vacated,
Monitors the garden area,
Mandatory Callahan Attendance
Hold the New Clients to the 2-bag property limitation,
Retrieve and deliver client property as indicated or required, in accordance with procedure,
Distribute and collect linen for laundry service in accordance with procedure,
Responsible for food warming, and in the serving of breakfast, lunch / dinner,
Responsible for cleaning of serving utensils and pots,
Conduct bed checks according to procedure,
Turn-off lights in all dormitories,
Complete Incident Reports, Hourly rounds as needed,
Complete room check as needed,
Update logbook to foster greater and meaningful communication across shifts as needed.
Demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team,
Meet with supervisor on regular basis,
Interact with clients to promote a friendly supportive but professional atmosphere,
All other duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor or other supervisory staff.
Attend mandatory in-service annually
Participate in various committees and meetings as requested
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or Equivalency with two years experience in counseling and/or a shelter system
HHA/ CNA or other Medical training preferred.
Fire Safety Coordinator Certificate
Food Handler’s Certificate
CPR/First Aide
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to speak/write the English language
Bilingual Spanish Preferred
