The Dispatcher is responsible for operating a bus, shuttle van, straight truck, or boat-hauling vehicle. In this role, Dispatcher will operate non-air brake passenger buses and are expected to provide efficient, consistent, safe, and timely service.

Job Responsibilities:-

A daily vehicle inspection form must be completed prior to operating the vehicle and after the route has been finished. It is essential to maintain a pleasant and clean environment both inside and outside the vehicle at all times. Dispatcher are expected to practice defensive, safe, and cautious driving in all circumstances. Exceptional customer service skills are necessary when interacting with guests to ensure a positive representation of the organization is consistently upheld.

Dispatcher are responsible for picking up and dropping off guests at designated locations. Those transporting passengers should possess extensive knowledge of the property and surrounding areas, serving as a concierge resource for all guests. Vehicles must be fueled, cleaned, and inspected as needed.

It is imperative to identify maintenance and safety issues, take appropriate corrective actions, and report any malfunctions immediately. All vehicle logbooks, including ridership information, must be accurately completed. Collaboration with the Transportation Office dispatcher is required to fulfill any special or group requests.

Dispatcher may also be assigned dispatcher duties, ensuring the safe and timely transport of files to and from the storage facility. Maintenance and safety inspections on service trucks, pickups, trailers, and other vehicles and equipment may be required, including checking and changing oil, tires, lights, and overall vehicle condition.

Assistance with clerical tasks, answering phones, and performing other office duties may also be necessary. Dry Storage Dispatcher may be tasked with selling and dispensing propane, adhering to federal dispensing regulations by only filling bottles with OPD under 10 lb. In certain situations, these Dispatcher may also need to operate a cash register, handling cash, traveler’s checks, and credit cards safely and accurately.

Attendance at all scheduled department and safety meetings is mandatory. Sharing innovative ideas to enhance efficiency and operations is encouraged. It is crucial to be familiar with and adhere to all company policies and procedures related to safety, security, emergencies, and energy, as well as the rules of the road.

Requirements:-

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age. A minimum of one year of professional driving experience, along with vehicle mechanical knowledge, is preferred, as is experience in customer service. Effective communication skills in both written and spoken English are essential. Candidates must successfully complete a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination and obtain a medical card. Additionally, passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol test is required, along with participation in a random drug and alcohol testing program. Prior to operating a company vehicle, candidates must complete and pass a Defensive Driving Course. Experience in driving under various weather conditions, including winter weather and the installation of tire chains, is necessary. Equipment utilized includes a vehicle, computer, hand truck, photocopier, printer, and telephone. Travel requirements are minimal, with less than 30% travel expected.
