The New York City School Construction Authority is recruiting for its Opportunity Academy program. Opportunity Academy is a year-long paid training and internship program in construction administration. Participants receive training from industry experts, gain work experience, and get the support needed to pursue a new career path.

Throughout the program, participants will acquire practical skills and knowledge in the processes and procedures necessary to conduct business with public agencies and authorities like the SCA. Each module will focus on business development, procurement, document control, and back office support related to public construction, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience that will leave them well-prepared and confident in their abilities.

OA participants earn $16.50 per hour during training, with an increase once internship placements begin. After completing OA training, successful participants will work as paid interns for up to thirty-two (32) weeks. Interns may work twenty (20) hours per week, with

the potential for full-time hours during the summer.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Must be at least 18 years old.

Must have a valid High School Diploma or High School Equivalency.

Must have valid government-issued identification and eligibility to work in the

United States.

One year minimum of work experience.

Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills required.

Working knowledge of MS Office Suite is required.

Must be highly organized, detail oriented, with an independent mindset.

Participants must be available to attend training sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00-5:00 p.m. (November 2024 - May 2025).

For internship placement, participants must be available a minimum of 20 hours per week (Monday- Friday) beginning May 2025.

Full-time hours may be available starting July 1, 2025.
