Owner/Manager is seeking a Handyman to join the staff of a 140-unit affordable housing property in New York, NY. This job reports directly to the resident superintendent.
Please note that this position offers a pay rate of $31.55 per hour. Additionally, this is a union position, which will include union benefits and compensation after a trial period.
Responsibilities
Perform repairs in such areas as, but not limited to, appliances, carpentry, plastering/painting, basic electrical, basic plumbing, tiling, wood floor repairs( tongue & groove).
Complete assigned service requests and repairs consistent with building operating procedures.
Assist in preparing vacant apartments for re-rental.
Annual apartment inspections
Maintain grounds and snow removal.
Be available for on- call activity during off hours for emergencies.
Requirements
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
General custodial skills as evidenced by experience in property maintenance or janitorial work.
General knowledge of electrical, plumbing, plaster/painting.
Ability to learn and take directions from the building superintendent and/or management.
Ability to speak and understand basic English.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to work with a diverse group of people and personalities.
