What we’re looking for:
We are looking to add a Property Accountant to our New York Corporate Office. What makes this role unique is that you will have direct access and ownership of our entire portfolio and our Senior Leaders, including our CFO. Our portfolio includes properties in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Staten Island and Brooklyn. In addition to our growing portfolio in Gowanus (Brooklyn), and Salt Lake City. We will rely on you for monthly and quarterly reports used companywide and externally for reporting, analysis and planning.

What you’ll be doing:
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for independent auditors, internal associates and external parties.
Perform monthly accounting activities, such as bank reconciliations, deposit summaries, and cash position updates.
Record monthly transactions such as payroll, debt service and tenant charges.
Prepare monthly workpaper packages and reconciliations.
Support the onsite Property Managers and other site personnel in all aspects of financial and transactional reporting.
Prepare annual CAM reconciliations.
Prepare reporting templates and formulate analysis using applications such as MS Excel and Yardi Voyager.
Support system improvement initiatives, including streamlining and automating processes and establishing cost efficiencies.
Assist with special projects, as needed.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
2-3 years public accounting experience with at least 2 years of real estate industry accounting experience.
Advanced proficiency in MS Excel with excellent analytical skills.
Knowledge of Yardi Voyager or other property management related software
Strong knowledge of GAAP/accounting theory.
Clear communicator with ability to interact with associates, senior leaders and external parties
Customer centric with a warm demeanor, positive attitude, and collaborative spirit.
Ability to both give and receive positive and constructive feedback.
Ability to work independently as well as with internal and external teams.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and complete multiple tasks with simultaneous deadlines.
A desire to be innovative and entrepreneurial when approaching projects, tasks, and interactions.
Consistently and continuously strive to provide a high-level of internal and external customer service and professionalism.
Physical Demands:
This position involves regular walking, climbing of stairs, standing, sitting for extended periods of time, hearing, and talking.
May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
May involve close vision, color vision, depth perception, focus adjustment, and viewing computer monitor for extended periods of time.
Involves manual dexterity for using keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
May involve moving or lifting items at or about 40 pounds.
Work Hour Requirements:
Ability to work a flexible schedule based on needs of the property as well as the company needs.
