Ship’s Store Assistant Manager

Reports To: Store Manager

The role of the Assistant Store Manager is to serve as a sales and client services person for accessories, engines, parts, supplies, etc. sold by our marine store, effectively serving our Retail clients as well as our service technicians and other co-workers with their needs while assisting the Store Manager with all aspects of our Store and Parts operations.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Greets customers in a prompt and courteous manner, presents a professional appearance and image

Be a good listener who can diagnose customer problems/needs and recommends appropriate solution.

Works well with our service technicians and service management to ensure that Store and Part Dept parts and accessories needed for work orders are available when needed.

Has aptitude to learn and utilize Lightspeed, our DMS, to:

o Order items using our Purchase Order system and ensures that incoming accessories and parts are added to inventory, orders are complete and accounted for accurately, plus utilize full suite of Lightspeed Retail management features.

Maintains the integrity of our inventory by assisting with regular cycle counts, correcting deficiencies.

Anticipates inventory and ordering needs by using our DMS to monitor and maintain minimum inventory levels, adhjusting as necessary for our seasonal and high-demand period inventory needs.

Helps manage our accessories retail business by seeking out product lines and items that are in demand by clients while merchandising in an attractive, logical, professional fashion.

Implment and direct team efforts to maintain a neat and orderly Store, creating a Retail Friendly, buying conducive shopping environment

Manages co-workers to be best able to meet departmental business needs.

Must be, or possess all skills and desire to become, an excellent salesperson

Requirements

A high school diploma, but college-level education is advantageous, as this may best prepare one to advance to our Store Manager position

Prior marine industry Retail/Store, parts and/or marine, automotive, or powersports service department experience preferred, being a definite advantage to succeed in this position.

Our staff are known as Boating Experts. At least some Boating experience, and/or a conversational understanding of Boats and Boating with solid aptitude and desire to learn more to be able to best assist our clients.

Professional appearance a must!

Physically able to perform required duties: including receive incoming merchandise to warehouse areas, stock shelves, lifting items up to 40 lbs., able to be on your feet most of a busy day, traversing our store, regularly climbing stairs to second floor warehouse areas.

Should be able to swim as you will be on our docks from time to time; must notify us if you cannot swim so we may safely accommodate non-swimmers.

Ability to communicate at a high level, both verbally and in writing.

Solid Microsoft Office Suite proficiency is required. (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Experience in E-Commerce greatly preferred, with interest and ability to take a lead position to identify, create, and maximize Rex Ecommerce opportunities and solutions.

Be team-oriented, self-motivated, and process driven

Have a valid US driver’s license.

Ability to pass a pre-employment background/drug screen

Has knowledge or able to acquire knowledge of US Coast Guard requirements for vessel and personal safety equipment.

Willing and able to procure a Safe Boating Certificate, a one-day Rex-paid course.

Demonstrated ability to sell and promote merchandise sales.

Pleasant personality and ability to interact as key part of our team with customers, vendors, Rex managers, and co-workers.

Can understand or learn to understand basic Store-related financial and inventory reports as these are essential tools to help maximize profitability.

Work Schedule

5 Days/Week, year-round, (averages 40-45 hours/week, will vary seasonally)

Will normally work full day Saturdays, year-round, OR Sunday, in-season.

Compensation: TBD, DoE.
