Boutique wine and spirits shop in the heart of Park Slope, Brooklyn seeking a part-time salesperson, including a Saturday evening shift, who is also capable of stocking shelves, maintaining inventory/storeroom/operations protocol and helping with product selection. You will get first-hand exposure to distributors, tastings, and participate in key decision-making for product buying.
We value work-life balance, so shifts will be fixed and guaranteed, although flexibility for occasional fill-in and swapping opportunities would be appreciated.
Prior experience with, and knowledge of, wine is a MUST, either in retail or a services-related industry (e.g., restaurant, bar, hospitality).
Responsibilities outside of sales include:
Keeping shelves stocked and the storage room organized
Receiving and stocking deliveries
Working the register and making local deliveries (0.5 mile radius)
Assisting with buying when you prove to master the previous three
Qualifications:
Wine (especially) and spirits knowledge
Excellent customer service skills and a natural ability to connect with people
Ability to carry 45 lb boxes up narrow flight of stairs
Relevant work references are required. Please have at least two ready, if you are called for an interview, and at least one of them must be a person who has been your supervisor.
Hourly rate will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
Liking dogs is a plus (or at least our shop dog)!
