Job Title: Fire Safety and Life Director
Overview:
The Fire Safety and Life Director is responsible for overseeing and implementing fire safety measures and emergency preparedness programs within a facility or property. In New York City, this role may be particularly significant due to the city's strict building and fire safety regulations. This particular job site is located in Brooklyn.
Key Responsibilities:
Fire Safety Compliance:
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal fire safety regulations.
Implement and enforce fire safety policies and procedures in accordance with NYC Fire Department (FDNY) guidelines.
Emergency Response Planning:
Develop and maintain comprehensive emergency response plans for various scenarios, including fires, natural disasters, and other emergencies.
Conduct regular drills and training sessions to ensure staff are well-prepared for emergencies.
Inspections and Audits:
Regularly inspect the facility to identify and address potential fire hazards.
Coordinate with relevant authorities and agencies for fire safety audits.
Equipment Maintenance:
Oversee the maintenance and testing of fire safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems, alarms, and emergency lighting.
Evacuation Procedures:
Develop and communicate evacuation procedures to building occupants.
Coordinate evacuation drills to evaluate the effectiveness of evacuation plans.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of fire safety inspections, training sessions, and emergency drills.
Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies.
Collaboration:
Collaborate with local fire departments, emergency services, and relevant authorities to ensure effective communication and coordination in case of emergencies.
Training and Education:
Provide fire safety training to staff and residents.
Stay informed about new developments and best practices in fire safety and emergency management.
Qualifications:
MUST HAVE Active - F89/T89
Relevant certifications in fire safety and emergency management.
Knowledge of local building codes and fire safety regulations.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
