Grain & Vine, a boutique wine and spirits shop in East Williamsburg, is looking for both part-time and full-time sales associates to work with our diverse inventory and serve our community, one of the most eclectic neighborhoods in Brooklyn.
You will expand on our sales efforts and overall growth through customer engagement and responding to customer service inquiries.
Wine knowledge and the ability to sell and educate customers on wine selections are a must. You will be exposed to various opportunities to further your education in the industry, including invitations to trade tastings and other industry events.
What we're looking for:
- Knowledge of wine so that you know what Barolo is/comes from, what we mean by red Burgundy, the difference between House and Grower Champagne, etc.
- Knowing spirits in a way you can describe the differences between bourbon and rye, Blanco and reposado tequila, what "peated" means, etc.
- An enthusiastic personality that can be effective while having fun, selling someone a $10 Pinot Grigio and a $255 Cabernet.
- Reliable (i.e., maintaining schedule commitments), on-time, and detail-oriented.
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Responding to customer inquiries on various online platforms
- Take charge of Customer Service channels and respond to order concerns.
- Customer sales; capable of describing our inventory while accurately assisting guests in selecting the perfect bottle. Selling is important, but gaining the trust of our community members is paramount.
- Tasting with wine and/or spirits distributors and providing insight into store purchasing decisions.
- Assisting in opening and closing the store, including the detailed and accurate register accounting.
- Assisting in receiving incoming deliveries.
- Assisting in lifting wine cases.
- Assisting in stocking the showroom.
