About Nios
At Nios, we're not your typical hair removal center – we're a game-changer! Nestled in the heart of NYC with offices in Midtown Manhattan and Downtown Brooklyn, Nios is where excellence in electrolysis meets top-notch service that exceeds even NY state standards and regulations. If you're ready to embark on a rewarding journey, we've got a spot for you!
The Opportunity
Our team at Nios is growing, and we're on the lookout for licensed cosmetologists or aestheticians who are ready to take the plunge into the world of electrology. If you're already an experienced electrologist – we welcome you too! In fact, if you've applied before and didn't make it to an interview, no worries; you’re welcome to try again. We have also added facials to our services & are planning to add some additional services as well, so if you’re a facialist who wants to expand to the world of permanent hair removal, we want to hear from you!
About You
We're searching for enthusiastic cosmetologists and aestheticians eager to dive into a new and exciting field. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of related experience, a strong sense of responsibility, exceptional client service skills and the steady hands and patience required for detail-oriented work. You must be comfortable working on both male and female private areas and be available 4 or 5 days per week, including at least one weekend day.
Important: If you're still at a stage where you're looking to learn many beauty techniques, we totally respect that (really!), but we specialize - and are good at - electrolysis and facials. We put a lot into training you and are looking for someone who's in it for a long-term home (our staff averages 5+ years).
Training and Work
You will be employed as an employee (not an independent contractor) because we believe in long-term relationships. We offer a fantastic benefits package, including health and disability insurance, paid time off including sick time, vacation days, family leave, 401K, and commuter benefits, as well as a great company culture.
Paid Training/Compensation
During the first 1-2 months of the program (4 days a week), you will receive extensive theoretical and practical education. Training is paid - you will also receive continuing training during the first year (while getting paid as an electrologist) to hone your craft. After one year, you will take your Certified Electrologist Exam and graduate as a certified electrologist. You can expect to make roughly 60k+ year 1, 70k+ year 2 and 80k+ year 3, composed of either commission + tips or hourly + lower commission + tips.
About Electrolysis
Electrolysis is the only method approved by the FDA for permanent hair removal (laser can only claim permanent hair reduction) since it can do things laser cannot (treat white, blonde, red, and fuzz hair; achieve eyebrow shaping, and more). In other words, it’s the gold standard. And permanent hair removal has an important effect on people's lives – we do more than just cosmetic treatments: a significant portion of women who see us have PCOS with male hair distribution on their face, and our treatments literally change their lives, not to mention our assistance with transgender gender affirming surgery.
