Client relations:
- professional conduct, defers questions regarding installation, protection, and schedules to the crew leader or Executive Director
General Professionalism, core responsibilities:
- Read call-time messages nightly and prepare mentally for the challenges of the day
- Shows up to work on time, prepared to ask questions, and engages with teammates in preparing to make the day successful
- Looks ahead to the next steps throughout the day and is proactive in supporting the team and transitioning tasks
- Manages Trello pages, keeping the list up-to-date to ensure needed material and equipment for the following day is loaded in a truck
- Clocks in and out recording project data as needed
Plan, drawing, and document management: :
- Can read plans accurately and reliably measure
- Responsible for requesting personal plan sets and asking questions to practice plan reading
Vehicle use and maintenance:
- Must possess a clean driving record
- Keep vehicle cabs clean and organized
- Proficient in loading equipment in an organized fashion
- Capable of strapping and securing heavy and/or long loads on the roof racks
- Can operate a dump truck, lift gate, and dump bed
Procurement:
Knowledge of building materials and hardware including but not limited to the following:
- Lumber - species, saw pattern, surface quality, edge profile, standard dimensional lumber measurements, and quantities
- Masonry - can identify different stone types, cement products, and aggregates to assess quality, accurately measure for quality and quantities
- Hardware - capable of identifying fastener type, including properties such as type and use of fastener, coated, stainless, or galvanized
- Capable of identifying and navigating to any vendor necessary to procure and deliver material to the site
- Works with the Lead Installer, Crew leader, and Executive Director of Operations to receive any training and support necessary to be capable of performing material and hardware runs with autonomy and a sense of urgency
Shop, tool use, and Maintenance:
Knows basic operation of the following tools:
- Table saw, Chop Saw, Circular Saw, Cement mixer, Worm drive saw, Drill Press, Jig Saw, router, Grinder, Chipping hammer, Gas Auger, Sawzall, Ladders
- Maintains the shop and yard premises, empties dust collector, takes out trash, cleans the shop bathroom, sweeps the driveway, and keeps tools, equipment, and materials in an orderly manner.
- Cleans shop tables and makes pathways clear
Specialized Skills:
- Possesses fundamental carpentry, masonry, woodworking and metalworking skills
- Measuring, marking, cutting, drilling, and fastener systems, adhesives, paint and other finishes.
- Capable of precision fabrication within 1/16” of tolerance
