Job Description: Website Designer – Laboratory Website Maintenance and Repair

We are seeking a skilled and creative Website Designer to repair, maintain, and enhance our laboratory's website, hosted within New York University Langone Health network. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing and managing academic or scientific websites and will play a vital role in ensuring our site is professional, user-friendly, and up-to-date.

Responsibilities:

Assess and repair any functional issues with the existing website, communicate with NYU IT team to ensure full operability across all devices and browsers.

Update content, including text, images, publications, and research highlights, to reflect the lab's current projects and achievements.

Improve the overall design and layout of the website to enhance user experience and accessibility.

Implement features to optimize site navigation, searchability, and information delivery.

Perform regular website maintenance to ensure security, compatibility, and responsiveness.

Collaborate with lab members to gather content and feedback for updates and enhancements.

Monitor website performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement necessary fixes in a timely manner.

Ensure compliance with institutional and accessibility guidelines

Qualifications:

Proven experience in website design, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Proficiency in web design tools and technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and WordPress (or other CMS platforms).

Familiarity with academic or research environments is a plus.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.

Basic graphic design skills are desirable.
