Safety Coordinator

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Safety Coordinator to join our team. The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for implementing and maintaining safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of safety regulations and best practices, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Please note- the main location for this position is in Rochester, NY with bi-weekly visits to Clarence location.

Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement safety programs, policies, and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations

- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions

- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and develop strategies for prevention

- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, including detailed incident reports

- Provide training to employees on safety procedures, emergency response protocols, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

- Collaborate with management to develop and deliver safety-related training programs

- Stay up-to-date with changes in safety regulations and industry best practices

- Assist in the development of emergency response plans and conduct drills as necessary

- Conduct ergonomic assessments to identify potential risks and recommend ergonomic solutions

- Promote a culture of safety awareness through regular communication and engagement with employees

Qualifications:

Strongly preferred:

- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field

- Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., OSHA)

- Experience in manufacturing/industrial environment

- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the safety coordinator role or similar

Other qualifications:

- Proven experience as a Safety Coordinator or similar role

- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards

- Familiarity with workers' compensation laws and processes

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Proficient in report writing and record keeping

- Ability to analyze data and identify trends or areas for improvement

- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct root cause analysis

- CPR and First Aid certification preferred
