The Transporter assists in the preparation for transport and transports patients safely to and from various areas of the hospital. Communicates with patients, patients’ families and staff to ensure patient satisfaction and excellent customer service is provided. Requirements:
Minimum of 8th grade education required.
High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
One (1) year transport experience in a healthcare preferred.
Responsibilities:
Assists in the preparation for transport and transports patients safely, in a timely and efficient manner, to and from various areas of the hospital.
Follows appropriate patient instructions from authorized Nursing staff and Technicians.
Responds to assignments and completes assignments in a timely manner, notifies dispatcher when job assignments are completed or if there is a delay.
Observes and reports any obvious condition changes or problems and patient may have.
Transports objects such as lab specimens, medical supplies, medical equipment, other patient related items, etc., to and from various areas of the hospital.
Communicates with patients, patients’ families and staff to ensure patient satisfaction and excellent customer service is provided.
Ensure equipment is properly maintained and reports issues and safety concerns immediately to supervisor.
Follows safety guidelines and proper lifting techniques.
Provide on the job training to new employees.
Complete required training as assigned.
Adhere to patient privacy policies and procedures, maintain confidentiality.
Responds promptly to customer requests, provide excellent customer service and collaborates with other departments throughout the organization.
Complies with Hospital and department policies, work rules and requirements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Should be able to push/pull, lift/move 15 lb., be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a keyboard, writing, and filing for extended periods of time, must be able to perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such as data entry, typing and using photo copiers. Mobility requirements may include the ability to be stationary at a workstation for a prolonged period time in addition to being able to squat or be mobile for a reasonable length of time and distance. Communication requirements include the ability to comprehend the spoken English language in addition to being able to communicate and read the English language.

Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.
