DescriptionThe Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement coordinates and implements a broad spectrum of innovative engagement strategies and alumni programming with a primary emphasis on optimizing and improving connections and networking opportunities with young alumni and students, as well as coordinating programs to increase the overall scope of alumni engagement in support of the university. Provides programmatic and administrative support for the Office of Alumni Services through writing, prooing, editing, graphic design, and data management. In collaboration with the University Advancement team, the Assistant Director of Alumni Services will be required to assist and participate in “all hands” alumni/donor events, including but not limited to Homecoming, Reunions, Bona Giving Day and Campaign events. Examples of DutiesWork collaboratively to support the engagement between alumni and the university, and current students, as well as increase the involvement of young alumni on campus and in their respective communities. This includes researching and identifying current trends and initiatives in young alumni and student engagement, program development and implementation, training and stewardship for pertinent programs, event and program management, and the administrative and marketing responsibilities for these programs. 25Assist with writing, editing and organizing various alumni communications mediums including relevant alumni web pages, letters, emails, online event registrations, etc. Create content for multiple social media platforms including photos, graphics and video. Respond to alumni questions and requests via alumni email account and phone calls.25Provide support for alumni programs and activities by working with vendors and colleagues to confirm event details, creating nametags, programs, and agendas, managing data collection and entry including event attendance and volunteer activity, and providing general planning and follow-up support for events.20Liaise with campus partners to coordinate student and alumni engagement activities including the Career and Professional Readiness Center, the Office of Student Affairs, Athletics, Student Government, etc. Serve as co-advisor to the Senior Class.10Cultivate and activate an engaged and diverse base of volunteer support for student and alumni programs through on-going relationship management and coordinate placement of volunteers in meaningful engagement. 10Supplemental Functions: Attend meetings and events when the director is not available.5Perform other duties to enhance the mission and goals of University Advancement & Alumni Engagement including all-hands-on-deck programming, data development and programming support.5Typical QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s Degree. Years of Experience –1 - 3 years in alumni engagement, fundraising, undergraduate student leadership or related field preferred.Certification and/or Licensure A valid driver’s license. No TSA restrictions.Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship. Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesSuperior communication skills with the ability to communicate with diverse constituencies; clarity and persuasiveness in written and oral communication.Exceptionally strong organizational and leadership skills; ability to plan ahead, think strategically, and manage multiple projects and deadlines.Strong attention to detail, excellent prooing, fact checking, typing accuracy.Highly skilled and able to create an idea, or adopt one from someone else, and then monitor it from beginning to end; develop and recommend procedures and systems to ensure smooth operations.Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as autonomously.Ability to research, analyze and prepare reports and monitor projects; prepare draft reports and documents with attention to details. Provide timely follow-up when necessary.Comfort with change and ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.Advanced knowledge of, and demonstrated skill with, Microsoft Office (Specifically, Word, Excel and Outlook) to implement, develop, and maintain computer-based business operations.Familiarity with design software and technologies (such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop). A keen eye for aesthetics and details.Ability to relate professionally and positively in work and social settings.Ability to travel regularly and get from place to place to perform work functions.Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the department’s needs, which will include evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.
