Sorority House Kitchen Assistant

The Omicron chapter of Tri Delta at Syracuse University is looking to hire their next team members, and you do not need to be a member of Tri Delta to apply! We are searching for Kitchen Assistants to assist with creating a clean, safe, and sanitary environment to meal prep our delicious and nutritious meals. As well as individuals who thrive working in a team setting and enjoy having an orderly kitchen. The Kitchen Assistant is a member of Tri Delta’s Park Street Properties Team, and this role will assist with all meal preparation and maintenance of the kitchen.

Status: Full-Time or Part-Time Hourly Seasonal

Location: On-site

Supervised by: House Director or Chef (varies by location)

We are considering one (1) full-time position or the possibility of two (2) part-time positions with this posting and the working days and hours of the kitchen and the current needs of our kitchen staff.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

Kitchen Management

-Promptly notify the supervisor and/or house director of any maintenance problems or unsafe conditions in or around the kitchen

-Properly care for supplies and leftovers

-Assist in meal preparation

-Assist in checking and the storage of food and supplies that are delivered to the chapter

-Notify supervisor and/or house director of any accidents or injuries while on duty, immediately

Cleaning & Sanitation

-Assist in cleaning kitchen supplies and utensils

-Assist in taking out trash daily

-Assist in washing dishes after each meal

-Assist in cleaning the kitchen daily

Administrative/General Responsibilities

-Observe kitchen and chapter rules, as determined by the chapter and house director

-Refrain from the use of alcohol or drugs in and around the chapter territory

-Maintain a professional relationship with all chapter members and residents, employees, and volunteers

-Perform general duties as assigned

Qualifications

-0 to 2 + years of related experience.

-Possesses skills to operate a computer including web browsing, email, and Office products.

-Meet specified physical requirements of lifting no more than 40 lbs, standing on the tile floor for long periods of time, and use of hands to handle and control tools.

-Ability to speak and read English.

-Ability to model, teach, and promote Tri Delta’s employee values.

-Ability to use proper discretion and independent judgment in carrying out the primary roles and responsibilities of the position.
