We are looking for an outgoing, friendly person to help us find and furnish apartments for international nurses coming from Mexico to work in Utica and be available to support them as they settle into life in the United States.
Our company, Gateway Health, places international nurses on 3 year contracts in various hospitals in the US. As a part of our way to support these nurses, we find great apartments for them and furnish those apartments. We also have people on the ground to greet those nurses at the airport and take them to get settled - doing things like taking them to the bank, cell phone store, and auto dealerships and just being there as a support system in case they have questions.
The perfect candidate should:
- LOVE interior design and finding great deals on used furniture and home goods. We need someone who loves to shop for used items on Facebook marketplace and other local stores to find great beds, tables, art work and furniture and create a great looking home on a budget, and has room to store these items.
- be good at looking for apartments and selecting high quality, affordable homes
- This person should also have the means to transport these items or have access to people who can help them.
- Be almost like a "community mom" to these nurses. We really try to build a great community for our nurses - and so the perfect candidate is someone who enjoys helping people get settled - things like bringing them food if they need it, helping enroll their kids in school, planning company dinners for the nurses, etc.
- someone who loves immigrants. All these immigrants are highly skilled and speak perfect english. You should have a heart for the immigrant journey and want to support them.
This will be an hourly role and the hours are very flexible for the most part since you can look for homes and furnish them totally on your own time. This is not a full time or even part time roll, but will more function in cycles - we have two nurses coming in February and then two more coming in March - so its great for someone looking for a extra income in addition to any full or part time job they have.
But overall this is an amazing job - it feels SO good to create a great home for a nurse and their family and have them see it and be so happy!
Here are a few videos of our other nurses arriving so you get the gist.
