  • The Housekeeping/Laundry Supervisor team member assists with ensuring the health and well-being of our residents by being responsible for the staffing and operation of the Housekeeping/ Laundry Department.

Position Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Ability to verbally communicate well with residents, families, and staff members.
  • Ability to read and understand task assignments, ability to report verbally and provide written documentation as required.

  • Keep facility environment in a sanitary, odor free, attractive and orderly condition and develops a Master Cleaning Schedule for daily, weekly, monthly and annual cleaning tasks.
  • Ensure an adequate supply of clean linens to meet the needs of residents and staff; oversee laundering of the personal clothing of residents.
  • Establish standards and work procedures for housekeeping and laundry staff in accordance with approved facility policies.
  • Supervise and inspect daily the cleaning areas of Housekeeping Aides and the laundry services performed by Laundry Aides.
  • Ensure that infection control policies and procedures are followed by housekeeping/laundry staff.
  • Appraise the effectiveness of housekeeping and laundry supplies and equipment.
  • Requisition supplies and equipment needed by housekeeping and laundry staff.
  • Perform housekeeping or laundry duties normally performed by aides, if necessary.
  • Manage the packing of possessions and housekeeping tasks involved when resident is discharged or changes rooms at this facility.
  • Coordinate the mending and labeling of residents' clothing as needed.
  • Review annually and update, if necessary, the department policy and procedures manual.
  • Arrives to work on time, regularly, and work as scheduled; responsible for own transportation.
  • Collect soiled linen and personal clothing of residents from designated areas within the facility and transport to laundry area.
  • Sort soiled linen or clothes into appropriate categories according to type, soiling, fabric and color.
  • Label residents clothing and retain records of personal possesions of each resident.
  • Assist in locating missing articles of clothing.
  • Load washing machines, selects wash cycle, adds soaps, detergents, and bleaches.
  • Transfer washed linen or clothes into dryers and start machine.
  • Sort dry linen, and fold and prepare for delivery to designated areas within the facility.
  • Prepare for delivery, and distribute personal garments of residents.
  • Remove lint and dust from machines, and keep laundry area clean on a daily basis.
  • Practice good infection control measures in the processing of laundry items and in personal habits.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management staff or Administrator.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 18 yrs. age required, HS diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Two years of experience in housekeeping/laundry environment required.
  • Ability to lead and manage employees necessary.
  • Qualities of dependability, honesty, and discretion necessary.
  • Working knowledge of infection control and safety measures required.
  • Ability to maintain high standards of building cleanliness and orderliness, and care of linens and residents' clothing required.
