The scope of the approximately $1.1 billion contract entails the construction of a new deep rock tunnel between the Kensico Reservoir and the Catskill/Delaware Ultraviolet (CDUV) Light Disinfection Facility, both in Westchester County, New York. The new tunnel will provide an additional means of conveying water between the Kensico Reservoir and the CDUV Facility, enhancing operational resiliency and redundancy for New York City’s water supply system.Extraordinary Projects need Exceptional TalentDESCRIPTION:As a Shaft Superintendent at Frontier-Kemper, reporting to the General Superintendent, you will have the opportunity to perform:
Quality Control – Ensuring that construction work complies with both project specifications and company standard
Document Control – Prepare and distribute all required documentation records including various cost, schedule and production reports
Design- Prepare workplans, submittals, and drawings and sketches to support construction work, as-built records, change orders, estimates,
Field Reporting – Accurately complete daily, weekly and monthly reporting requirements
Safety – Comply and promote the Company safety policies to ensure a safe workplace while also observing MSHA Federal and State standards
Requirements:
Engineering degree and 5 or more years of relevant mining and tunneling construction experience.
Drill and blast experience, and the ability to become a Blaster in Charge.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with AutoCAD
Effective verbal and written communication skills in order to communicate with clients, management and production staff
Ability to apply basic engineering principles to solve construction engineering issues
Must be able to work underground in a challenging environment with exposure to heights
