The Business Manager/Bookkeeper is responsible for overseeing the daily, monthly and annual financial data and compliance of the institution. They maintain accurate books on accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and daily financial entries and reconciliations. They perform daily accounting tasks such as monthly financial reporting, general ledger entries, and record payments and adjustments. This position also assists with Human Resource management and other administrative duties aligned with nonprofit management.

Duties and Responsibilities:

-Maintains a complete and systematic set of records of all financial transactions of the school by establishing accounts, posting transactions, ensuring legal compliance and requirements.

-Records detail of school financial transactions in appropriate detail in the general ledger system by establishing a chart of accounts, defining bookkeeping policies and procedures.

-Prepares financial statement information for the Director and the Board. Prepare a variance to budget analysis.

-Records all payments received appropriately in the general ledger system to show revenue per period. This includes engagement with Afterschool payment software, TADS billing software, credit card management, Paypal, Benevity etc.

-Responsible for Payroll processing including payroll taxes.

-Pays all bills in accordance and in line with the annual budget.

-Maintain vendor information for 1099 purposes including payment records and W9.

-Supports management and safeguarding of assets such as school vehicles, property insurance, monthly bills and annual rates, etc.

-Human resources management such as retirement eligibility, unemployment claims, workers compensation, Health Insurance advisory,

-Design and produce data reports for annual reporting purposes

-Manages and monitors all bank accounts and funds.

-Supports grant submissions and follow up for Opportunity Scholarships, Title Funds, and other grant resources.

-Supports legal compliance with nonprofit and school management

-Maintains historical records by filing documentation.

Requirements and Qualifications:

-Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field

-Previous bookkeeping experience

-Proficient with Quickbooks online

-Experience in nonprofits and schools a plus

-Pass state-enforced background check

Flexible hours between 35 to 37 hours per week. An additional $3,900 stipend for health care. After one year of employment, an additional 2% retirement benefit is given. Tuition remission for children: 80% discount for 1st child, 50% for 2nd child.
