Spencer Surveying and Mapping is currently looking to employ a FULL TIME FIELD SURVEY CREW CHIEF OR EXPIERENCED INSTRUMENT PERSON. Spencer Surveying and Mapping is based out of Asheville and all field technicians are expected to meet at the office location on Hendersonville Road (near Biltmore Village) at 8 am. This is a smaller survey firm with 7-8 employees and 2-3 full time field crews. We use Carlson software and primarily rely on 2 or 3 person crews consisting of a chief, instrument person, and one assistant/back sight person.
The perfect candidate would meet the following equirements:
A minimum of 1 year experience as a field survey crew chief or instrument person.
A minimum of 2 years experience working in a survey position of any kind.
Proficient in math skills and reading plats.
Take instructions and follow directions.
Have a valid driver's license.
Be willing and able to train new and current employees.
Be able to proficiently run out front and collect accurate data.
Responsibilities:
As a crew chief you would be expected to have a proficient understanding of a variety of different kinds of surveys, including but not limited to; boundary retracement, mortgage surveys (boundary and location of permanent structures), topographic, construction layout, elevation certificates, and subdivision/recombinations. You would need to be able to take charge of a crew and delegate responsibilities in order to complete the task. You must be able to provide accurate field data observations and communicate any abnormalities with the office. You would need to have a basic understanding of survey equipment for maintenance purposes. You will be expected to meet and communicate with clients on site, this includes home owners as well as building contractors.
