We are a NY deli in Asheville that bakes for both the deli and a sister restaurant downtown. We're looking for a individual to assist part-time with our baker. We make all of our pastries, desserts, and breads.
This will be about 20 hours a week.
Assistant to Pastry Chef responsibilities include:
-Preparing a wide variety of goods such as cakes, cookies, pies, bread etc. following traditional and modern recipes
-Creating new and exciting desserts to renew our menus and engage the interest of customers
-Decorating pastries using different icings, toppings etc. to ensure the presentation will be beautiful and exciting
-The ideal candidate will have at least some baking or kitchen experience. Must be good at following directions and taking feedback. They must adhere to health and safety standards to provide clients with the best possible serving.
Requirements:
-Proven experience as a baker or kitchen experience
-Great attention to detail and creativity
-Organizing and listening skills
-Willingness to replenish professional knowledge
-In depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation and baking techniques and nutrition
-Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten free, sugarless etc.)
-Available to work on weekends
