Seeking part-time help for personal horse farm in Madison County (near Marshall/Mars Hill/Weaverville area) to assist with daily (5-7 days/week) care of owner's 6 equines and general horse barn maintenance.

Requirements:
-Age 18 years or older.
-Must have reliable transportation to perform duties listed below consistently 5-7 days/week in all weather conditions.
-Ability to work short shifts (3-4hrs per day) on multiple days so must reside/work or go to school nearby Marshall/Mars Hill or Weaverville area.
-Ability to safely perform repetitive, physically demanding duties listed below to include reaching, bending, lifting and carrying in all weather conditions.
-Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds (i.e., lift/carry water buckets, hay bales, feed/shavings bags, etc).
-Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions and stay mentally present at all times for horse care and safety of horses/humans.
-Ability to organize a variety of daily tasks and use time efficiently to complete them.
-Experience with and knowledge of horses and their nature. Note: position requires working around/contact with horses. It requires comfort haltering & moving horses within and around barn.
-Ability to exercise good judgment at all times with understanding of the inherent hazards present with equine activities and farms/barns.
-Ability to work well with others, follow direction & adapt to changing instructions as needs of horses change.
-Good verbal/written communication skills.
Duties:
-Feed/provide supplements per written instructions & refill hay bags.
-Clean and refill water buckets & troughs.
-Muck stalls/sheds and empty manure from barn and surrounding areas. This position requires daily cleaning of stalls/barn. It requires maneuvering & emptying a full wheelbarrow.
-Remove/spread manure in pasture area surrounding barn.
-Tidy barn and sweep/blow aisle-way. Remove loose hay, rinse washbay and leave barn in tidy condition.
-Notify owner of any hazards or maintenance issues in/around barn.
-Contact feed store to re-stock supplies when needed. Pick up feed and supplies as needed. Notify owner in advance when supplies are in need of replenishment.
-Grooming/washing and horse handling as needed. Administer horse medications as needed.
-Other duties as assigned.
Additional hours available for specific tasks/projects.
Note: Smoking is not permitted in the barn or near the horses at any time.
