The Assistant Site Superintendent is an introduction to site management and is an entry level Site Superintendent position. This person has mastered the role of carpenter (or other relevant skills) and has a desire to gain experience in supervising construction projects from start to finish. This position requires good interpersonal, communication and organizational skills that will be expanded on.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Expert:
Carpentry skills and experience in both rough framing and finish trim carpentry.
Works onsite to fill in gaps to complete carpentry and general labor items as needed.
Maintains a clean, organized and safe job site. Coordinates the regular emptying of the dumpsters and porta potty with related companies. Coordinates the organization of tools and materials.
Able to hold subcontractors to the same clean and safe job site standards as Pivot.
Utilizes time efficiently, both regular time and downtime.
Always presents self in a professional manner to homeowners/clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
Maintains strong moral character and integrity with others including coworkers, homeowners/clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
Proficient
Under the supervision of the Site Superintendent (SS), works primarily on the project site, learning how to lead and manage the daily work of subcontractors.
Understands building plans independently and is proficient in how to interpret and implement them.
Understands the overall construction process
Works well within the Pivot team and is a team player offering support to others when needed.
Learning
Ability to read building plans, proficient at interpreting them and implementing goals
Works together with the Project Coordinator to facilitate the delivery and receipt of materials, supplies and finishes to the jobsite. Ensures their proper storage on the jobsite.
Basic understanding of building code, regulations and technical building aspects for the trades is required and will be expanded on.
Supports the SS in maintaining the project schedule through advance scheduling and communicating with subcontractors daily for onsite work line out.
Works under the direction of the SS to facilitate the bidding process as needed.
Participate in weekly meetings with the SS to plan and line out the work with the subcontractors as well as materials and supplies needed for the site.
Participates in the Pivot Quality Checks to ensure compliance with the building code, regulation and technical building aspects of the trades.
Working knowledge of the various trades (and their respective codes) with whom we work
Maintains documentation of work onsite for the SS. Communicates regularly with SS and gives timely updates of changes or challenges.
Actively implements the Project Management Software including, but not limited to, schedule, finishes, budget, time tracking, subcontractor bids and communication tools.
Supervises the work of staff (Carpenters, laborers and Project Coordinator) and subcontractors, starting to understand how to troubleshoot issues/challenges, understanding when to consult and ask for greater expertise to ensure both the plan and building code is followed.
Communicate with and oversee subcontractors’ work.
Participates in all Pivot Quality Checks to learn how to ensure work is maintained at a high standard.
Observes all city and county inspections and takes notes.
Observe all client site meetings and takes notes to document on the Project Communicator form as delegated.
