What we do and Customer Mix

We are in the tax preparation business. Our business mix is 60% first peak customers and 40% second peak clients. Our first peak business is tax refund dependent and second peak customers are simple tax returns. We consider about 10% of second peak customers to have moderately complex tax situations and about 2% to have complex tax situations.

Position Description

This manager's position is for one of our locations in Concord/Kannapolis, NC where we complete around 400 tax returns. At the location you will still be client interfacing and preparing tax returns and supporting two to three team members. Let's be clear, we are looking for 3+ years of tax experience. If you love preparing taxes and are looking to manage an office, then we are looking for you.

Create a timely weekly schedule for the team and stay inside of a budget.

Be professional, relatable, and friendly to all. We have a very diverse client base. You can work with someone that makes $5,000 and the next person will make $100,000+. You can work with someone that is educated and someone who is not. It possesses the capability of being a communication chameleon.

Attending our free tax school is not required!

Company Direction And Mission

Our first priority is great tax preparation and having team members that can deliver that to our clients and our priority is to fill the office manager position.

We are also faced with a paradigm of the tax season being seasonal and how can we provide additional opportunity to our team members that are looking for more.

For the past 4 years the owner has been focusing on Affordable HealthCare (ACA) Insurance as an additional revenue stream of the business. In building out this side of the business model but in doing so also creates additional complexities. Affordable Health Care (ACA) has an open enrollment period from November first through January 15th. While simultaneously having tax school, Holiday Loans and tax season all happening simultaneously. So things can get a little crazy.

We are working on solving the one problem that is when we have talented people we want to keep them engaged and provide an opportunity for growth.

Yes, we are looking to create additional opportunities but it is not required for this position if you just want to do taxes and manage an office we need that as well.

If you are looking for more to become an ACA Agent. The fist stage of your journey will be to get your health insurance license and become certified. Then the hard part is you will have to put the work in to build a new book and a business.

The advantage you have is that many of our tax customers qualify for affordable health care and we have a built in client list to help expand into another opportunity.

Let's be honest with each other, not everyone is cut out to become a health insurance agent. If you like to crunch number’s sit in the back office and don't enjoy speaking and helping clients this is not the position for you. But if you like talking on the phone, hosting events, and getting energy being around other people. Then this is something you may want to look into.
