Role Overview: Scheduler

As a Scheduler at United Infrastructure Group (UIG), you will play a key role in managing and maintaining detailed construction schedules for multiple projects. Working closely with project managers, construction managers, contractors, and other team members, you will be responsible for using Primavera scheduling software to plan, track, and report project progress from the conceptual phase through construction. You will also be tasked with making scheduling recommendations, analyzing schedule impacts, and developing strategies to mitigate risks and delays.

Typical Duties include but are not limited to:

Schedule Creation and Maintenance:

Create, monitor, and maintain multiple project schedules using Primavera P6 scheduling software.

Assist the team in defining project goals, objectives, and success factors.

Collaboration with Project Teams:

Work closely with project managers, construction engineers, and contractors to provide detailed planning and scheduling support from conceptual planning to project execution.

Collaborate with estimating departments and project teams during project turnover to modify schedules based on bid evaluations.

Analysis and Recommendations:

Analyze schedule updates against the established baseline to assess impacts on resources, constructability, workflow, and cash flow.

Evaluate schedule logic, durations, resource impacts, and workflow efficiency.

Make recommendations to reduce schedule risks and assess the impacts of design or construction changes on project timelines.

Schedule Monitoring and Updates:

Prepare and present schedule updates and status reports to project teams, ensuring timely delivery of information.

Report on schedule progress, highlighting potential risks, and develop recovery plans in the event of delays.

Custom Reporting and Forecasting:

Prepare summary-level reports such as 4-week look-ahead schedules, cash flow analysis, resource histograms, and float trend analyses.

Assist in the preparation of estimates, proposals, and baseline schedules to meet client requirements.

Risk Management and Mitigation:

Conduct "what-if" scenario analysis to create recovery schedules and evaluate potential mitigation measures when project delays occur.

Qualifications and Skills:

Experience: 5+ years of construction scheduling experience, preferably within the heavy highway industry.

Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in civil engineering is preferred (equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).

Industry Knowledge: Strong knowledge of DOT standards, including experience with SCDOT, NCDOT, and GDOT.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling software and MS Excel.

Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present schedule updates and analysis clearly to team members and stakeholders.

Collaboration: Ability to work independently and as part of a team, working closely with project managers, contractors, and engineers.

Safety: A safety-minded approach to all aspects of work.

Organizational Skills: Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.

Self-Motivation: A self-starter with the ability to work unsupervised and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

Position Requirements:

Basic abilities to use or learn MS Word, Excel, and COINS Systems.

Willingness and ability to manage crews.

Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Valid Driver’s License.

Willingness to travel as required.

Legally able to work in the US.

Physical Requirements:

Office Work: Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer are required.

Field Work: Occasional travel to job sites to support project scheduling tasks.
