Senior Data Engineer, Compliance Technology

JOB SUMMARY:The Sr. Data Engineer for Compliance Technology will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable data infrastructure and pipelines to support the organization's financial compliance and risk management initiatives. Working closely with compliance, risk, and data teams, you will build solutions to ingest, process, and analyze complex data from various sources to ensure accurate reporting, monitoring, and audit capabilities.POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or a related field.

Proven experience (5+ years) as a Business Analyst, Data Engineer, or similar role within the financial industry, with a strong focus on compliance and regulatory matters.

Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries to extract, transform, and load data, as well as perform detailed analysis for trends, discrepancies, and potential compliance issues.

Proficiency in analyzing complex data using MS Excel

Hands-on experience with Power BI data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI) to create meaningful reports and dashboards as needed.

Familiarity with financial crimes compliance software (Verafin, Actimize) is desirable.

At least 2 years of experience building and operating data pipelines, data lakes, and/or data warehouses in Azure cloud

Knowledge of Big Query and Looker in Google Cloud Platform is a plus

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify compliance-related data requirements and translate them into actionable insights.

Conduct comprehensive analysis of complex data sets to identify trends, anomalies, and potential compliance risks.

Heavy use of Excel spreadsheets, Power BI or other visualization software.

Design and implement efficient data pipelines, integrating data from various sources.

Ensure data quality, accuracy, and consistency by implementing data cleansing, validation, and transformation processes.

Collaborate with IT teams to optimize data storage, access, and retrieval for compliance reporting and monitoring.

Write complex SQL queries to extract, transform, and load data into relevant tables for analysis.

Utilize SQL queries to perform in-depth analysis, identify trends, discrepancies, potential issues, or problems related to compliance data.

Develop and maintain SQL scripts for routine data processing and reporting tasks.

Experience and familiarity with compliance software such as Verafin, Fircosoft, and Actimize.

Leverage your knowledge of these tools to enhance data analysis, monitoring, and reporting processes.

Collaborate with IT and compliance teams to integrate and leverage these tools effectively.

Develop ETL, data pipelines, and orchestrate movement of data in cloud platforms (Azure and GCP) for data storage, processing, and analysis.

Develop automation using Scripting languages (Powershell, Power Automate, Python)

Generate ad hoc reports from Core system and Fraud detection software as requested.

Maintain thorough documentation of data sources, methodologies, and processes to support audit and regulatory inquiries.

Identify opportunities to streamline compliance processes through automation and innovative use of technology.

Work closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and pain points and propose data-driven solutions to enhance compliance efficiency.

Engage in effective communication with team members, management, and stakeholders to share insights, findings, and progress on compliance initiatives.
